What a difference!!!

This last week I have been straying from my “unprocessed” diet….I have had organic tortilla chips, Rice chips, Dark chocolate covered almonds, one or two coffees, and one night I ate out and ordered a spinach tortilla wrap with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and tortilla strips and ate a few french fries on the side.   I felt sick later that evening and well into the next day.

I knew that I felt good doing the experiment but I guess I didn’t realize how good I actually felt until I started eating semi-normal again.  I have been getting tired in the afternoons, I have a hard time waking up in the morning and I don’t feel light and refreshed, instead I feel bloated and groggy.  I notice that in my workouts I cannot lift as heavy of weights and my endurance is shorter.  I have even noticed a few blemishes on my skin (which I didn’t have during the experiment).   Overall, I can tell a big difference in the way that I feel compared to those 30 days.

I would have never guessed that eating a little bit of processed foods would make that much of a difference but it really has.   I want the energy, glow, and stamina back!!!  Fresh foods ROCK!!!

It is my passion to somehow make healthy eating into a career ….I would love to open a fresh juice/smoothie bar, write a book on healthy eating and run classes that teach people how to make lots of delicious, fresh food.

Day 31…..

Okay, so it is the first day beyond the experiment and I have a lot to think about….today I did eat some processed foods and I swear I feel bloated, my stomach hurts, and I just feel gross.  My plan was to continue eating mostly raw fruits and veggies but to make some exceptions once in a while, but the way I am feeling today I may not do this.   I am thinking very hard about making this a lifestyle change for me.  I realize that this is an extreme way of eating and I am by no means suggesting that this is the only healthy way to eat.  I believe that there are many “healthy” things and for each person it is different.  I respect how others choose to eat and would never push this way of eating on anyone, I hope that I can be respected for choosing this route as my “healthy”.   I do believe that God created fruits for our enjoyment but also so we can get lots of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need.  I believe that everyone can benefit from reducing processed foods and replacing them with fresh, ripe fruit or veggies.   My hope is that someone somewhere can be inspired and start to make changes for the better in their life whether it means just replacing a donut with a piece of fruit or cutting out fake foods and eating more fresh whole foods.  I wish everyone lots of love!!!  I will continue to blog about what I eat so please keep reading!!!!  Comments are always welcome, in fact I love them!!!!!  🙂

Day 31 I ate:

  • Smoothie made with coconut water, banana, cocoa powder, almond butter, stevia
  • salad made with lettuce from our garden, sprouts, carrots, sunflower seeds and HOMEMADE CROUTONS!!!! with balsamic dressing
  • Remember my sons BIRTHDAY CAKE that I froze to eat later….well, I ate a small piece today and it actually wasn’t the yummy goodness I had conjured up in my head
  • Teecino with almond milk
  • watermelon
  • ORGANIC TORTILLA CHIPS dipped in smashed avocado
  • 3 small CRACKERS with Sunflower seed butter

DAY 30!!!!!!!!

Well, I made the 30 days!!!  I am proud that I have done this accomplishment, but more important I feel amazing!!!  I have tons of energy, I have lost 13 pounds, and I just feel better overall.  I am so glad I tried this and even though I had my moments of wishing I could eat what everyone else was eating, I am glad that I didn’t give in.  Thank you to all who left comments for me or called me to keep me motivated, it was because of you that I kept going!!!

Day 30 I ate:

  • Smoothie made with water, banana, cocoa powder, almond butter, maca, lucuma, and mesquite powders
  • watermelon
  • pistachios, cashews, and almonds
  • green tea
  • banana
  • LaraBar
  • 2 big containers bought from Meijers of cut up watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe
  • 1/4 avocado smashed with sea salt and cayenne and I used raw dehydrated flax crackers bought from the health food store to dip

Make sure to stay tuned and keep coming back, you never know what I might have up my sleeve!!!
